Britain’s No 1 Sport-Climbing Champion
Shauna Coxsey Drops In To Inspire Team Craggy
With the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) lobbying to include sport-climbing in the 2020 Olympics, the youngsters that make up The Craggy Island Youth Climbing Team are being encouraged by the UK’s top sport-climbing champion; Shauna Coxsey. With their eyes on the possibility of being Olympians of the future the six-strong team, which was selected by the centre’s instructors from over 500 Kids Club members, has been given an inspirational boost by Shauna during a dedicated day’s training.
Shauna Coxsey, 20 from The Wirrell, is the World No.3 despite breaking her leg during 2012 rounds which meant she missed two events. As the leading competitor in UK sports-climbing Shauna is dedicated to promoting the sport and in particular, encouraging women of all ages and shapes to have a go.
