Wilsonart step up to support North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust Charitable Fund to support vital breast care unit.
20th June 2014. Today, fourteen members of staff, including Managing Director Tim Pearson and event organizer Robin Myers, from Wilsonart started a gruelling 300 miles-in-3-days charity cycle ride from London to Paris in aide of charity.
Wilsonart, based in County Durham, is one of the leading manufacturers of worktopsin the world and has organized fundraising challenges for local charities for several years – each tougher than the last. Robin Myers, (production planner, second in from right and back) explained. “There is a mixture of amateur cyclists along with the more experienced on the team. It’s no mean feat to cycle 100 miles a day for three consecutive days so it’s really great the way everyone has stepped up.”
This time team Wilsonart is hoping to raise a target of £7,000 towards the breast care unit at North Tees and Hartlepool Hospital. Managing Director Tim Pearson (holding bucket) explained, “Breast cancer has touched the lives of some of our employees this year, including mine, so it was an obvious choice to support the breast care unit through this year’s challenge. We are already very close to our target so by the time we get back on Monday we are hoping we will have passed it by some way.”
